Best Little Cowboy Gathering in La Grange

KR Wood opened the event at 11:00 a.m. then join Camp Cookie at his chuck wagon on Saturday, March 9th 2019 at the Fayette County Fairgrounds.  Best Little Cowboy Gathering is a wonderful Cowboy event with lots of great music & dancing day and night, BBQ cookers, children’s events, historical events, and Texas sized hospitality!

The Lone Star Kids from Electra, Texas Performs the Fathers of Texas Musical

The Lone Star Kids are students from KR’s hometown of Electra, Texas and it will be the 16th year that they have come to the Alamo and Capitol to perform the music from KR’s CD “Fathers of Texas”, the story of the Texas Revolution.  They practice the music all year, bring their own props, make their own costumes, and raise the funds to charter buses to make the trip. 


2017 Presidents Award for his new album “Songs and Tales of the Old Chisholm Trail.”

The Western Music Association (WMA) Annual Awards Show was held Saturday, November 11, at the Hotel Albuquerque in Old Town. WMA Member K.R. Wood was the recipient of the 2017 Presidents Award for his album “Old Chisholm Trail.” The Presidents Award is given in recognition of outstanding accomplishments over and above the usual criteria for awards.

The WMA Awards are an opportunity for the Association to recognize those members who have shown the greatest competence in recordings or concerts and in taking the genre of Western Music and Poetry to the public.

The Western Music Association is an organization that encourages and supports the preservation, performance and composition of historic, traditional and contemporary music and poetry of The American West. WMA was founded in 1989.

Western Heritage Award Winner

KR Wood’s song “A Nickel A Head” (an original on his “Songs & Tales of the Old Chisholm Trail” CD) has been selected as the winner for the Original Western Composition category for the 2018 Western Heritage Awards. The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum values the level of prestige the Western Heritage Awards has achieved and maintained during the 57 years of existence.  KR will be receiving his Wrangler Award sculpture on April 14, 2018 at the Western Heritage Awards in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
